UK SAF Mandate published

In April 2024 the UK’s SAF Mandate was published.  It is a brilliant and significant step forward in support of aviation’s energy transition.

Key highlights include:

·        2% minimum SAF required by Jan 2025

·        0.2% minimum of SAF needs to be PtL derived by 2028 (~80m litres)

·        maximum volumes of the HEFA process are detailed and will fall

·        BioSAF priced at £4.70/ litre

·        Synthetic SAF priced at £5/litre

Aggressive timescales and meaningful SAF volumes along with pricing certainty means the market will rapidly scale.

It was great to see the work we are driving at the Jet Zero Council being actively championed by the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom.
